| Past & Current Engagements Technical Assistance for the preparation and implementation of the privatisation of the banana industry in Suriname De Sola & Kluyver - Financial Solutions was contracted by IDC under a Special Framework Contract of the EU regulated by the Cotonou agreement between EU and ACP countries, to advise/prepare and assist the Government of Suriname to organise the privatisation of the state-owned banana industry including the public tendering (full inventory of the assets and preparation of the tender dossier). The Government of Suriname revised the former Suriname-EC strategic plan of the banana sector adopted in 1998 due to recent developments and difficulties of the banana industry in Suriname characterized by monopolistic relations, small opening to private sector opportunities and confusion of roles of different stakeholders, prevented to undertake accurate measures for restructuring and adapting the sector to national and international markets. The new strategy encompasses to implement a drastic re-structuring plan and institutional reforms in order to create an adequate framework for the viable long-term development of the banana sector (the creation of a new banana company in January 2003 and the privatisation/divestment of the State from the banana industry). For the privatisation of the state-owned banana industry the Technical Assistance requested of De Sola & Kluyver - Financial Solutions comprises the valuation, drafting of a privatisation strategy, the drafting of a dossier for public tendering for privatisation, advice on the evaluation of tenders and assistance in the tendering for privatisation.
